A brand new cafe is taking a very unique approach in its attempts to open in downtown Brampton, and some residents have already donated to its cause.

Currently skimming the top of a $20,000 target on GoFundMe, Samson’s Daughter Cafe in Brampton is a fundraiser for a caf that was started by Sanah Ahsan some three weeks ago at the end of April 2018.

The goal?

To open a cafe in downtown Brampton.

According to the fundraiser page, the $20,000 is being raised to obtain the café site and buy equipment and signage for the new space.

An exact location has not yet been confirmed.

The European-inspired cafe and brunch restaurant aims to serve high-quality food and coffee in downtown Brampton.

“Brampton will finally have a cozy and welcoming space for students, young professionals and families,” reads the fundraiser page.

“Samson’s Daughter will be a place to study, work, socialize or have meetings but will also serve innovative and wholesome brunch and lunch items, including vegetarian and healthy options. We hope to create a relaxing and calm space where everyone can relieve their daily stresses and enjoy freshly brewed gourmet coffee and tea as well as a variety of pastries and desserts.”

The cafe also promises workshops and networking events for youth.

Fundraising to get Samson’s Daughter Cafe off the ground is the first way the entrepreneurs behind the cafe plan to obtain  funds to pursue the venture.

“Should we not reach our goal, we will continue to pursue this project through institutional financing or venture capital financing in addition to the funds received through this campaign,” reads the page.

“But, we trust that we will reach our goal and then some!”

As of writing this on May 17, 2018, the effort has raised $600 of the $20,000. Ten people have contributed to the fundraiser.

The fundraiser boasts reward levels for donors. For $5, donors get a shoutout on the cafe’s social media, for $10, donors get a voucher for three free beverages, and so on.

Donation reward levels range from $5 to $100 according to the page.

There’s an interesting reason behind the name of this cafe.

“The café will be owned and operated by Sanah Ahsan, the youngest daughter out of three of the late Samson Ahsan, who had tragically passed away when she was very young of age,” reads the page.

“Samson was a warm and welcoming soul, friendly to everyone in the community and a true entertainer and generous host. This is what the café will be. A warm and welcoming space with good vibes and the best food, just like Samson’s home. Let our café be like your second home!”
