Two more suspects arrested in Brampton murder investigation, bringing total to five

Two more Brampton residents have been arrested and charged in connection to a murder that occurred in late 2020.

On December 17, 2020, first responders were alerted to possible gunshots in the area of Scott Street and Church Street.

Upon arrival, 23-year-old Uchenna Achioso was found with gunshot wounds. He was transported to a trauma centre, where he succumbed to his injuries.

So far, five Brampton residents had been arrested by Peel Regional Police and charged with first degree murder–21-year-old Hailey McVicar was arrested on January 12, 33-year-old Jerome Smith was arrested on January 26, 19-year-old Aliyah Rosan was arrested on February 19, and 20-year-old Moses Tesfay and a 17-year-old boy were arrested on Tuesday (March 2).

“Gun violence carries devastating effects for our communities.  It cannot and will not be tolerated, and these arrests made by investigators are a reflection of their resolve” Nick Milinovich, deputy chief of Investigative Services, said in a news release.

“We will continue our unwavering efforts to end gun violence and other types of crimes that affect the well-being of all that live, work and visit Peel Region,” he continued.
