OLG says Onismo Murambiwa has that “6/49 feeling” after winning the guaranteed $1 Million prize in the February 19, 2020, Lotto 6/49 draw.
Murambiwa, a 47-year old married father of three, discovered his win by using the ticket checker at a retailer.
“I thought, this is not happening! I scanned the ticket a dozen more times,” he told OLG. “It was a shock to the system. I even took a photo of the Ticket Checker!”
OLG says the realtor plans to treat himself to a new car and will put the rest of his winnings into savings.
“As a realtor, I handle big cheques all the time. It feels incredible that this one is mine,” he told OLG.
“I don’t know what to say – this feels like a dream.”
The winning ticket was purchased at Petro Canada on Main Street in Brampton.
OLG also says that Alyssa Caetano has $197,679.90 to put toward her dreams after winning a Lotto Max second prize in the Jan. 7, 2020, draw. Caetano also won $44.30 with another selection on the same ticket, bringing her total winnings to $197,724.20.
“This was my first time playing Lotto Max,” she told OLG. “The jackpot was $70 million.”
OLG says that when Caetano’s mom heard that the jackpot-winning ticket was sold in Brampton, she urged Caetano to check her ticket.
“When we saw my win she said, I think I need an aspirin!” Caetano told OLG
Caetano told OLG she plans to purchase a car for her mom and a plane ticket for her best friend from Croatia to visit Canada.
“The rest of the money I will invest, or maybe put towards the purchase of a home,” she told OLG.
“I never thought I would win – I’m kind of speechless.”
The winning ticket was purchased at Shoppers Drug Mart on Avondale Boulevard in Brampton.
