Taking a nap in the middle of an off-ramp along Highway 401 has led to charges against a Brampton truck driver.

Ontario Provincial Police say the man was found sleeping in the driver’s seat of the parked truck by officers just before 4 a.m. on December 23 in the area of Leeds and Thousand Islands Township near Gananoque in Eastern Ontario.

The officers were on routine patrol at the time when they discovered the sleeping driver who was blocking the lane.

The 63-year-old Brampton trucker was charged with interfering with traffic and failing to keep a proper daily log under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA). Police don’t usually name those charged under the HTA because they are not criminal offences.
