5) Traditional Taste Bakery & Cafe
Located in a plaza at McLaughlin and Queen, Traditional Taste is one of the best Portuguese bakery and cafes in Brampton! Not only do they have some incredible bread and custard tarts, they make a mean chocolate chip cookie! You can get these soft, melt-in-your-mouth chocolate chip cookies in a regular size or in a mini size, and they are delicious! With a good amount of chocolate chips and a soft and crumbly texture, the cookies are ready for you to dip in milk or eat on their own. Either way, you’ll be craving more of these once you’ve had one, and you’ll be glad that you now know one of the best kept secrets of Brampton’s food scene — Traditional Taste is awesome and their cookies are their hidden gems. Just like grandma used to make.

If you’re looking for an amazing shortbread cookie, Macaronz in downtown Brampton is your spot. This place has a variety of shortbreads that are buttery as ever — toffee shortbread, chocolate chip shortbread, Reese’s pieces shortbread, plain shortbread, and even shortbread with Toblerone on top. Ideal for tea time (10/10 I would dip these in tea…but maybe that’s just me…), coffee time, or pretty much anytime, these babies are very crumbly and everything you would want from a good shortbread cookie, including being made in-house (like all the cookies on this list). Be sure to stick around for high tea here — a plain shortbread cookie usually comes with the Macaronz high tea experience.
3) The Grainery
The Grainery near Kennedy and Steeles is hands down the winner on this list for variety of cookies. Here, you can get individual or packaged and always freshly baked cookies of every kind you can imagine. Double chocolate, macadamia, white chocolate, toffee bits, oatmeal, oatmeal raisin, oatmeal chocolate chip, pecan caramel, chocolate chip (both regular-sized and giant chocolate chip cookies at the cash), and everything beyond and inbetween. The sun-kissed double chocolate cookies pictured below were indulgent — soft, chewy, and chocolatey all at the same time. It’s highly likely you won’t be able to stop at just one cookie here…might as well grab a pack!
2) Dolcezza
We need to talk about the chocolate chip cookies at Dolcezza in downtown Brampton. These are the best chocolate chip cookies I’ve ever had at a cafe or bakery in my life. Granted, they were warm and freshly baked when I got them, but it was love at first bite. These cookies will melt in your mouth, they are so buttery and have an ideal hint of sweetness to them without overdoing it. The chocolate chips:dough ratio is also perfect, making for a truly amazing cookie experience. The only sad part about the cookies at Dolcezza is that they are typically only available one day of the week — Saturdays. So be there on a Saturday to experience this deliciousness. And the service is always very friendly to boot.

Cookie monsters, rejoice — the number one spot on this list goes to Occassions, tucked away in a plaza at McMurchy and Nelson. Sure, their “cube cakes” (cupcakes shaped like cubes) are already incredible, but have you ever tried their freshly baked cookies? These little bites of heaven come in packages or individually, and there are typically a few different kinds available, including chocolate chip, white chocolate cheesecake, cranberry oatmeal, and pea “not” butter (yay for peanut allergy-friendly!).. I snagged the white chocolate ones and oh my goodness, softest cookies I’ve ever had. These buttery, sweet cookies are delectable, packed with white chocolate chips, and while they’re on the sweeter side, they’ll leave you craving more. Nomnomnom-worthy indeed.
