If you want a great artisan sandwich (especially a loaded veal one with all the fixings), this is the place to go. Located just around the corner from Williams Parkway and Torbram, That Italian Place is a very busy spot with an authentic Italian feel. A word of caution when you visit: order early or have time to spare. This absolute gem of a restaurant appeared on The Food Network’s You Gotta Eat Here in 2013 and for good reason—every item on the menu looks and tastes authentically delicious. If you’re in the mood for a hearty veal sandwich with all the toppings, you truly shouldn’t look anywhere else. The veal is tender, the mushrooms are filling and flavourful and the hot peppers add a certain wow factor that makes the sandwich complete. If you’re looking to grab lunch, this is the ideal spot.
This spot, while not AYCE, provides amazing sushi at a reasonable price. The food is fantastic and could easily compete with any other Peel Region sushi joint for the title of best Japanese in town. Tracing its roots to humble beginnings in the infamous Shopper’s World, this spot sits up top in the same plaza as the crowned king (Queen) of Shawarma at Hurontario and Bovaird. Do yourself a favor and try this place out. Quality over quantity is sometimes key.
If you want authentic Mexican Food in the city, look no further than La Catrina located on Queen Street West in downtown Brampton. The restaurant is family owned (it uses recipes from “La Abuela” – grandmother’s recipes) and brings true, authentic flavour that captures the essence of Mexico. Chef Eddie Bachur and his team provide a wide selection of authentic good eats from tacos to cerviche and burritos and house-made mole dishes. And if you’re staying for dessert (which we know you will) you will have to try the churros (Fried dough pastry dusted with sugar and cinnamon) or a favourite amongst the InBrampton team – the Pastel De Tres Leches (a vanilla sponge cake soaked in three milks filled with peach—not to be confused by the classic Big Pun song).
Wow! This is a place that specializes in poutine and they do something special. There’s enough varieties of poutine at Poutine Dare to Be Fresh to make your head spin. Every single type of poutine is always layered with cheese curds and fresh gravy, but it’s the toppings that will knock your socks off. The Bacon Double Cheeseburger Poutine was said to be the most popular topping and it is to die for. The ground hamburger and bacon bits are any meat lovers dream come true. Plus it comes with extra cheddar cheese sauce on top of it. Though the product, contemporary and comfortable eating space and customer service are amazing, the prices are on the higher side. They say you get what you pay for and this is certainly the case. P.S. they offer loyalty cards, so you can get your seventh poutine for free.
When you think of street meat, you might think about going to town on a foot-long hot dog before a Jay’s game or after a long night of clubbing. You might even think of satisfying a hearty craving after a hectic hour at a local Costco or Canadian Tire. Even if you have fond memories of curbside sausages, you probably never associated the scrumptious meal with freshness and variety. JB’s Street Meat, which opened just a few short weeks ago in the Queen and Kennedy area in Brampton, invites diners to enjoy casual but well-crafted meat and BBQ dishes indoors. While owner Jonathan Boone and his team like to change up the menu based on the day’s shopping, they do offer some staples that diners can expect to see on the menu daily, offering a core menu with pulled pork and pulled chicken, mac and cheese, ribs and more. While fresh cuisine is incredibly popular, it’s typically associated with higher price points and the associated expenses sometimes deter diners looking to spend less on their meals. According to Boone, customers need not fear hefty price tags at his resto, as filling foods are competitively priced for the average diner.
