This spot, while not AYCE, provides amazing sushi at a reasonable price. The food is fantastic and could easily compete with any other Peel Region sushi joint for the title of best Japanese in town. Tracing its roots to humble beginnings in the infamous Shopper’s World, this spot sits up top in the same plaza as the crowned king (Queen) of Shawarma at Hurontario and Bovaird. Do yourself a favor and try this place out. Quality over quantity is sometimes key.

If you want to hit this Fisherman’s Drive hotspot on a Saturday or Sunday, be prepared to wait a few minutes for a table. John’s Family Restaurant, a tasty establishment known for serving massive portions of breakfast, brunch and Greek and Italian fare, is a casual restaurant run by friendly servers that’s augmented by a filling and delicious menu. While a lot of more casual restaurants tend to serve decidedly ordinary Benedicts, John’s offers a delicious smoked salmon Benny that’s heavy on both fish and flavour. The hollandaise is also subtle, memorable and delicious. As far as staples go, the eggs, bacon, sausages and pancakes are perfectly prepared and wonderfully filling. The breakfast potatoes are also exceptional, as they’re comprised of the real deal–no store-bought cubes here!
Flips is an iconic breakfast joint that gets packed to the rafters on weekends and for good reason–it’s straight up delicious. Located on Main Street, this greasy spoon serves up all the classics (eggs, bacon, sausages, pancakes, waffles, French toast, omelettes, Benny’s, etc) and offers an enticing selection of incredibly generous combo platters that will kill your hangover and satisfy your appetite for days. While it’s easy enough to find greasy spoons that boast a solid breakfast game, it’s rare to find a place with consistently flavourful offerings that are legitimately tasty. It’s no wonder this place attracts everyone from families to couples to college/university students who partied hard the night before. It’s a true gem.
The Crown and Lion feels like one of those places you can see yourself coming back to any night of the week. The Crown and Lion has been a favorite for many Bramptonians because of the friendly and inviting atmosphere. Nearing Brampton’s border at Financial and Steeles, this pub doesn’t fall in line with the usual dark toned aesthetic that most pubs seem to have. With the Crown and Lion, right when you walk in you’ll quickly notice how well-lit the entire joint is and the bright colour scheme will also grab your attention. They have a lot of great theme nights, including Monday nights for wings and Wednesday nights for pub trivia. My personal favourite and main recommendation is their wings, but if you’re looking to grab something to share with friends, I also suggest trying their spinach and artichoke dip or the wings. Either way, you’ll leave knowing you had great food in a great place.
Kwality serves the best butter chicken I have ever had, hands down. As soon as I tried it, my life changed, and I knew it would top this list. You can taste the freshness of this butter chicken, the chicken is so tender it falls apart without needing a utensil’s help, and the tomato sauce is creamy, slightly sweet, and spicy all at once. Though it was the most expensive meal on this list, at around $20 for naan and butter chicken, it was so worth the cash. Everything about this butter chicken was on point, even the naan was made just right – fluffy, crunchy, and buttery in all the right places – and all I could think about was when I could come back for another round. Best capped off with a masala chai – delicious!
