5) J.Red & Co
Definitely one of the most modern restaurants in Brampton, from the atmosphere to the innovative menu. Located on Vodden and Main is one of the city’s gems. Chef Jason Rosso is the mastermind behind the menu and if his name sounds familiar to you, it’s probably because he has appeared on such TVshows as Restaurant Makeover, Recipe to Riches and the Marilyn Dennis Show. He is known for offering familiar food with a twist and the menu does not disappoint. Here, you can experiment with all kinds of new food – you can try things like smoked cheddar mac ‘n cheese, egg rolls, and even crispy fried cauliflower ‘wings.’

This Queen and Airport resto opened last year (which they proudly display on their storefront as “Est. 2016”) operated by Sanjeev Sethi, the owner and executive chef of The Host brand. The cozy, street food inspired resto has a casual yet classy atmosphere, with unique furnishings and earthy tones like reds, greens, and browns throughout. Their dishes are served in metal bowls and plates (as if they were cooked in them – very street food-like), though their dinner plates are a simple and classy black. The Butter Chicken Fries can’t be beat and I’ll rave about them forever – aromatic, with tender chicken, creamy sauce with a kick of spice, and crispy fries. Also be sure to try their Chicken 65, classic saag paneer, and the chef’s choice Ambala Wala Chicken Curry. At reasonable prices, you can get a tasty meal here for about $25 per person.
If you want to hit this Fisherman’s Drive hotspot on a Saturday or Sunday, be prepared to wait a few minutes for a table. John’s Family Restaurant, a tasty establishment known for serving massive portions of breakfast, brunch and Greek and Italian fare, is a casual restaurant run by friendly servers that’s augmented by a filling and delicious menu. While a lot of more casual restaurants tend to serve decidedly ordinary Benedicts, John’s offers a delicious smoked salmon Benny that’s heavy on both fish and flavour. The hollandaise is also subtle, memorable and delicious. As far as staples go, the eggs, bacon, sausages and pancakes are perfectly prepared and wonderfully filling. The breakfast potatoes are also exceptional, as they’re comprised of the real deal—no store-bought cubes here!
Kwality serves the best butter chicken I have ever had, hands down. As soon as I tried it, my life changed, and I knew it would top this list. You can taste the freshness of this butter chicken, the chicken is so tender it falls apart without needing a utensil’s help, and the tomato sauce is creamy, slightly sweet, and spicy all at once. Though it was the most expensive meal on this list, at around $20 for naan and butter chicken, it was so worth the cash. Everything about this butter chicken was on point, even the naan was made just right – fluffy, crunchy, and buttery in all the right places – and all I could think about was when I could come back for another round. Best capped off with a masala chai – delicious!
1) Thai Pepper
Hands down, Thai Pepper has the best quality Thai food in Brampton. I was super impressed with the quality, quantity and cost; what more could you ask for? Located not too far from Sandalwood and Hurontario, Thai Pepper’s meagre decor in its unassuming plaza is completely contrary to the amazing cuisine found within. The menu offered several different choices, classics and unique specialties. Fortunately, the affordable prices made it easy for me to not feel too bad about indulging in a few items. My personal favourite was the ever classic shrimp tom yum soup, which boasted the perfect amount of spice and came with huge, good quality prawns. I also thoroughly enjoyed the basil fried rice. Considering that I tasted but a morsel of the wide selection Thai Pepper has to offer, I will soon visit again. Be warned, if you are in a rush, Thai Pepper may not be the best option for you; if you are looking to eat a delicious meal and spend time relaxing with a friend, you’ve come to the right place.
