Three Brampton residents are enjoying thicker wallets after some very lucky lotto wins.

OLG recently announced that Dimitri Lalansingh is “all smiles” after winning the $250,000 top prize with Instant Super Money Multiplier.

“I enjoy playing Instant Super Money Multiplier,” Lalansingh told OLG at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. “I bought a few tickets and went straight home to scratch them.”

The last ticket 39-year-old Dimi scratched was the big winner.

“My parents were away and my brothers and sisters were all at work so I had nobody to celebrate with. Instead, I shared the good news with my neighbours.”

Lalansingh has some plans for his windfall.

“I’m excited to take care of my siblings and parents. I have always wanted to run my own commercial cleaning business and now I can! I will also be taking some time to travel. My family moved from Trinidad to Canada 30 years ago. I was just a boy and I haven’t been back since. I am looking forward to returning and seeing all my cousins. Finally, I have always taken transit and while I didn’t mind it I think it’s now time for me to get my license and a car too,” concluded Dimi.

Instant Money Super Multiplier is a $10 instant game that has 15 top prizes of $250,000. Overall odds of winning are 1 in 3.87.

The winning ticket was purchased at Rabba on Kingscross Road on Brampton.

Two other Brampton residents, Anna-Maria Laudari and Irene Sabharwal, are also celebrating following a big group win.

OLG recently reported that a group of 12 GTA residents are splitting a $50,010 prize from the Nov. 19, 2016 Ontario 49 draw.

The group members are:

Jamie De Gryp of Caledon East
Anna-Maria Laudari of Brampton
Antonio (Tony) Ciampi of Tottenham
Charles (Charlie) Schembri of Bolton
Edith Assels of Kleinburg
Eileen Colquhoun of Bolton
Irene Sabharwal of Brampton
Kimberly Phillippo of Orangeville
Lesley Dunbar of Bolton
Michael Baldesarra of Bolton
Norma Basdeo of Bolton
Vicky Franchi of Bolton

“We are colleagues and we have been playing the lottery together for seven years,” the group told OLG while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. “We have been playing the same numbers and finally, we won with that combination.”

De Gryp collects the money each week while Schembri purchases and checks the tickets on behalf of the group.

“I usually go to the same location every Thursday to get our group tickets. I was at the store when I decided to use the ticket checker to see if we had a winner. The words, ‘Big Winner’ flashed on the screen. I was shocked and I held the ticket tightly. I went straight home to check the tickets again. I kept restarting and refreshing my computer just to be sure.”

Schembri began reaching out to group members.

“At first I thought he wanted me to pay up for the next draw,” said Ciampi. “When Charlie told me we won, I asked him to send me a picture of the ticket so I could verify the numbers.”

The group says this win has brought them closer together.

“We plan to celebrate our win with a nice dinner.”

Ontario 49 is $1 per play and the draws take place every Wednesday and Saturday. Tickets are sold until 10:30 p.m.

The winning ticket was purchased at Petro Canada on Queen Street in Bolton.
