Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) has transitioned all of its services and programs innovative forms of remote delivery by leveraging its recently deployed CMHA Peel Dufferin Mobile Health Clinic powered by TELUS Health to help manage the spread of COVID-19.
With over 235,000 individuals experiencing homelessness in Canada in a given year and with the spread of COVID-19, providing vulnerable populations with these services is crucial during these unprecedented times.
Peel Dufferin Mobile Health Clinic powered by TELUS Health, initially launched on March 10, 2020, is a specially-equipped mobile health clinic that provides healthcare to vulnerable citizens.
The mobile clinic on wheels acts as a vital link between the community and the local health authority.
It also helps to reintegrate homeless citizens back into the healthcare system through the use of TELUS Health technology, including electronic medical records (EMRs).

The clinics, part of TELUS’ Health for Good program, which are operating in 10 markets across Canada, help to remove barriers that homeless Canadians face in terms of receiving medical care.
To further support CMHA Peel Dufferin and its COVID-19 efforts, TELUS has provided incremental $25,000 to CHMA Peel Dufferin to help it continue its efforts during COVID-19.
This grant will allow CMHA Peel Dufferin to provide its services, healthy food and a safe place to live to the vulnerable population and is part of a greater initiative as the TELUS Friendly Future Foundation has contributed a total of $250,000 to support healthcare charities with COVID-19 response efforts.
TELUS is also providing CMHA Peel Dufferin with 100 mobile devices and $0 prepaid wireless plans to enable isolated, at-risk individuals to have social support services during these challenging times as well as the ability to virtually connect with loved ones.
This is part of a greater nationwide initiative as TELUS donates more than 10,000 mobile devices and $0 prepaid wireless plans, valued at more than $5 million, to hundreds of not-for-profit organizations across the country.
Mobility for Good COVID-19 Emergency Response program is one more way to help urgently support and enhance public healthcare capacity and community response across Canada.
Mobile Health Clinics powered by TELUS Health, are currently operating in 10 markets across the country which include Ottawa, Montreal, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Victoria, Kitchener-Waterloo, Surrey, Brampton and Halifax.
