Speed enforcement cameras are coming to Brampton.

Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE), an automated system that uses a camera and a speed measurement device to enforce speed limits, will be set up at several streets around the city.

The City of Brampton was one of the first municipalities in Ontario to implement ASE—the arrival of ASE devices was announced in December 2019—and the devices will become operational in September of this year.

Devices will only be implemented in community safety zones with posted speed limits of 80 km/h or under. ASE devices are intended to protect Brampton’s most vulnerable populations and help them feel comfortable while walking, running, playing, cycling, and generally enjoying their communities.

The five locations that will see ASE devices implemented in September are:

  • Ward 1 Vodden Street East (between Kennedy Road and Centre Street)
  • Ward 2 Richvale Drive North (between Kennedy Road and Sandalwood Parkway)
  • Ward 3 Ray Lawson Boulevard (between Hurontario Street and McLaughlin Road)
  • Ward 8 Avondale Boulevard (between Bramalea Road and Birchbank Road)
  • Ward 9 Fernforest Drive (between Bovaird Drive and Sandalwood Parkway)

ASE devices will monitor the speed at which drivers are travelling, and drivers who are travelling on roadways with ASE devices will receive a ticket in the mail if they exceed the posted speed limit.
