The weather statements and advisories have been popping up in abundance lately, but it’s always good to be aware. Your Monday morning commute could be affected by a weather statement and special advisory issued last night.

On Sunday, January 21, 2018, Environment Canada issued a statement saying that the freezing rain threat is less severe for Monday morning now, though we can still expect some drizzling and there is a fog advisory in effect.

It might be slippery out there, so be careful.

“The greatest freezing rain threat will remain over Central and Eastern Ontario where temperatures will be colder,” said Environment Canada. “However, northern portions of York and Durham region, as well as the Dundalk Highlands may see a couple of hours of light freezing rain in the late morning or early afternoon with temperatures close to the freezing mark.”

Temperatures are expected to remain above freezing for the start of the work week.

As for the fog, near zero visibility is expected, with dense fog patches reported in Burlington, Oakville, Caledon, Halton Hills, Milton, Mississauga, and Brampton.

These patches are expected to persist into Monday morning, and dissipate later in the morning.

Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations, according to Environment Canada.

Stay safe out there, Brampton.
