Recall issued for Cottonelle wipes due to possible presence of bacterium

Kimberly-Clark Corporation has announced a recall for Cottonelle Flushable Wipes and Cottonelle GentlePlus Flushable Wipes sold in the U.S., Canada, and the Caribbean.
The recall is specifically for wipes manufactured between February 7 and September 14.
According to a release the company shared via their social media channels, the recall is due to the fact the products do not meet the company’s strict quality standards.
More specifically, the products could contain the presence of a bacterium (Pluralibacter gergoviae) which naturally occurs in the environment and in the human body.
According to the statement from Kimberly-Clark: “Pluralibacter gergoviae rarely causes serious infections in healthy individuals. However, individuals with weakened immune systems are at a heightened risk of infection.”
Those who are unsure if they bought a product that is part of the recall can determine if they should return it by checking the lot numbers found on the bottom of each package.

Kimberly-Clark has provided an online checker customers can use to determine whether the product they purchased is part of the recall.
Those who have purchased one or more of the affected items are instructed to refrain from using them, and instead, write down the lot numbers, throw them out, and contact Kimberly-Clark for a refund.
