How much you know about the waste collection system in Brampton?

A recent poll from Main Street Research found a majority of Brampton residents don’t know much about garbage and recycling schedules in the city.

The poll surveyed 1,500 of Brampton’s residents by phone between April 26 and May 1, gathering information of their observations versus their expectation on service delivery of some city and regional services.

The poll found that on average, Bramptonians think garbage and waste are collected 3.6 times per month, but believed it should be collected four times each month. However, garbage is actually collected two times a month in Brampton.

Residents also believed recycling is collected 5.4 times per month and thought it should be collected 4.2. However, just like waste collection, recycling is collected twice a month.

Main Street claims that the confusion may be caused by the fact there is some form of the collection every week.

The city commissioned the poll as part of its internal research regarding the province’s ongoing review of regional governance in Ontario.

The Council received the results at a special meeting on May 21.
