Police Seek Brampton Man Involved in Shooting Investigation

The public’s assistance has been requested by Toronto Police in locating a man involved in a shooting investigation.

According to Toronto Police, officers responded to a radio call for a shooting at King Street West and Brant Street on March 19 at 2:30 a.m.

Allegedly, two 26-year-old men were involved in a physical altercation with two other men. One of the men pointed a handgun at the two 26-year-old men and the other man pepper sprayed one of the 26-year-old-men. Police say it’s been alleged that the man with the handgun fired it into the air, and the two men fled the area.

No one was struck by the bullet.

One of the men, 27-year-old Toronto man Tharshan Balasingam, was arrested on April 11. He has been charged with intent to aggrieve/annoy, assault with a weapon, and possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace. Balasingam will appear in court on May 15.

Police are seeking the man allegedly with the handgun, identified as 25-year-old Brampton man Jayson Jeyakanthan.

Jeyakanthan is wanted for carrying a concealed weapon, two counts of pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace, discharging a firearm and being reckless as to the life or safety of another person, and possession of a firearm without holding a license.
