Peel Police’s Special Victims Unit is alerting the public and appealing for witnesses following a recent sexual assault in Brampton.

Around 1:15 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12, police say a woman was walking alone through a greenspace in the area of Steeles Avenue West and Hurontario Street when she was sexually assaulted.

“The suspect is a man who is unknown to the victim,” police said.

He’s described as a white man, between 35 and 50 years old, with an average build.

“In the interest of public safety, police would like to remind the public that it is always safer to walk in groups whenever possible and take routes which are well-lit and visible to the public, especially during the evening hours.”

Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or anyone with information related to a similar incident to contact them at 905-453-2121, ext. 3460.
