Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a homicide, and have released Canada-wide arrest warrants for the remaining ones.

Hamilton police recently announced that they have arrested a suspect and issued Canada-wide warrants for two others in connection with the 2017 murders of Angelo Musitano and Mila Barberi, as well as the attempted murder of Saverio Serrano.

Hamilton police say the arrest comes after a year-long investigation dubbed Project SCOPA.

Police allege that in September 2017, a link was established connecting the May murder of Musitano with the murder of Barberi and the attempted murder of Serrano in March 2017.

Police say Musitano was gunned down in his Waterdown driveway and Baberi was shot and killed in a parking lot in Vaughan, while her boyfriend, Serrano, suffered two gunshot wounds to his arm.

Project SCOPA involved members from Hamilton Police Service, RCMP, York Regional Police Service and Toronto Police Service. The Niagara Regional Police, Canada Border and Security Agency, Drug Enforcement Agency, Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Homeland Security also provided assistance throughout the investigation.

“This was a particularly difficult crime to solve given the complexity of the investigation across various jurisdictions,” said Hamilton Police Chief Eric Girt. “As law enforcement agencies, we continue to align our resources to address community safety priorities. This arrest signals the successful outcome of interagency cooperation.”

Police say 27-year-old Hamilton man, Jabril Hassan Abdalla, has been arrested.

Canada-wide warrants have been issued for 37-year-old Hamilton man Michael Graham Cudmore and 27-year-old Ancaster man Daniel Mario Tomassetti.

All three individuals are facing a number of charges, including two counts of first degree murder, attempted murder and three counts of conspiracy to commit murder.

Police say the accused are both believed to have fled to Mexico and are encouraging them to turn themselves into authorities.

Police say that anyone helping the suspects escape or evade arrest will be charged with accessory after the fact to murder.
