Peel Regional Police (PRP) Chief Nishan Duraiappah issued a statement in relation to on-going protests that have been occurring in Peel Region.

Duraiappah specifically referenced a video appearing to capture an altercation that occurred during a protest on February 28 in Brampton.

According to Duraiappah, the fight captured on video is being investigated by PRP.

“There will be no tolerance for violence or criminality, and all reported incidents will be investigated, and those involved may be charged. This has been and will continue to be our service’s approach in support of the well-being and safety of our community,” he said in a news release.

Duraiappah also noted that the Region of Peel is still under Ontario’s stay-at-home order, and any protests must comply with these regulations.

“Tickets may be issued to individuals or organizers who do not comply with this order,” Duraiappah said.
