Police arrest and charge 18-year-old man from Brampton in connection to carjacking that occurred in residential driveway

Peel Regional Police (PRP) has arrested and charged an 18-year-old Brampton resident in relation to a carjacking that occurred in Brampton.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. the victim was unloading groceries from her car in the driveway of her residence in the area of Chinguacousy Road and Charolais Boulevard, when she was approached by the suspect, Mehkash Sohal.

Sohal allegedly attempted to engage the victim in conversation, before assaulting her and then stealing the vehicle.

The victim, who alleges in her statement that she was dragged a short distance during the altercation, was taken to hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, while police were able to locate the stolen vehicle shortly after the initial altercation.

On Wednesday (May 5), police charged Sohal with one count of robbery. He was held pending a bail hearing and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on May 5.

The investigation is still ongoing, PRP is urging anyone with cellphone footage, dashcam footage, or other video footage, or anyone with information to contact them at 905-453-2121 extension 3410.
