The Region of Peel has reduced the speed limits on two major roads in Brampton.

The Region of Peel has reduced the speed limits on two major roads in Brampton.

The speed limit on Bovaird Drive and Mississauga Road, which are both regional roads, have been reduced by the regional council.

The council passed the third reading of By-law 24-2019 on March 28.

With By-law 24-2019, the region reduced the speed limits on Regional Road 1 (Mississauga Road) from 80 km/h to 70 km/h from 400 metres north of Regional Road 6 (Queen Street West) to 200 metres north of Regional Road 14 (Mayfield Road).

The region also reduced the speed limit on Regional Road 10/107 (Bovaird Drive) from 70 km/h to 60 km/h from Regional Road 7 (Airport Road) to 730 metres west of Heritage Road.

Additionally, the council amended By-law Number 15-2013, which is a by-law to regulate traffic on roads under the jurisdiction of The Regional Municipality of Peel.

The region has advised Peel Regional Police, Halton Regional Police, Ontario Provincial Police, City of Brampton and Town of Caledon of the changes.

The new speed limits align with the region’s road-safety Vision Zero plan. It also aims to keep roads safe as many developments are coming to Bovaird Drive and Mississauga Road.

What do you think of the changes to the speed limit on these two roads?
