Peel Region continues to show a general decline in new COVID-19 cases, reflecting an overall trend for the entire province.
Today (February 17), Peel reports 170 new cases while across Ontario the number stands at 847, the lowest it has been since October. This is also the second straight day Peel’s numbers have been below 200.
Other numbers reported from Ontario show 257 new cases in Toronto, 131 in York Region, Hamilton has 29 new cases and Halton Region reports just 12.
Ten people have died of COVID-19 in Ontario during the past 24 hours.
Hospitalizations in Ontario stand at 719 COVID related cases with 298 people in intensive care and 211 requiring ventilation.
Meanwhile, Ontario’s Health Ministry reports that almost 500,000 doses of the vaccine have been administered since the beginning of the rollout.
