The City of Brampton’s Farmers’ Market returns for the 2021 season on June 19, in a new downtown location.
In anticipation of downtown redevelopment during the market season, the market is relocating to Ken Whillans Square, Wellington St. W. and Gage Park, directly south of City Hall.
The market will continue to run Saturdays, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine, until Oct. 23. Many of the favourite farmers and local artisans will return offering freshly-picked seasonal produce, prepared foods and unique, handcrafted goods.
“As the City of Brampton begins to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, the Brampton Farmers’ Market offers an opportunity for residents and visitors to visit a local tourist attraction and support local vendors,” said Harkirat Singh, wards 9 and 19 city councillor.
City staff will ensure the market is operated in accordance within public health COVID-19 directives and guidelines. All market vendors and shoppers will be required to wear a face mask. social distancing and maximum occupancy numbers will also be enforced.
The market is still centrally located in Brampton’s downtown area and is accessible by Brampton Transit or by bicycle. For those driving to the market, free parking is available at Brampton City Hall.
“Attending the Brampton Farmers’ Market has been a tradition for families since 1986 and one that I enjoy with my own every Saturday morning,” said Mayor Patrick Brown. “While it’s a new location, it will be the same great market with many of our favourite farmers and artisans. I encourage people to explore our market and support local.”
