Weights, trainers, classes, and beyond – a huge new gym is set to open in Brampton very, very soon!

We’ve known for some time now that a new gym was on its way to Shoppers World, in fact, we even knew that it would open in the window of December 2017 and January 2018. If you love to work out, or you want to get into the fit life, you’ll be excited to know that GoodLife Fitness’s official opening date at Shoppers World has been announced.

That’s right, Brampton – the much anticipated GoodLife Fitness will host a grand opening party on Thursday, December 7, 2017, from 5-8 p.m., and it’ll be open for workouts on Friday, December 8, 2017 (perfect for your pre-weekend health trip).

The grand opening will be packed with music, demonstrations, and a chance to win a trip somewhere very sunny.

The brand spankin’ new co-ed and for women location will offer such staples as certified personal trainers, state-of-the-art equipment, and free group  fitness classes, for instance. Here’s a fun detail: the location is also set to have massage chairs, according to GoodLife’s website.

What’s more – you can find a turf zone for strength training and cardio workouts, and even virtual fitness, where you can do group fitness on your own time!

You might just turn into a health nut.

The super gym GoodLife Fitness already runs a Fit4Less (a gym that’s affordable and has all the gym basics) location at Shoppers World, but RioCan did confirm in May that the space would be welcoming a full-sized and fully equipped GoodLife Fitness location in 2017 – and, clearly, it’s finally here.

You could also win a one-year membership to the new gym by entering here.

The gym is where the old Target was – on the same side as Canadian Tire, near Brampton Gateway Terminal – in the same new wing as the already open Giant Tiger, the relocated Staples, and the up-and-coming JYSK.

Upgrades to Shoppers World are varied and will likely continue even after the new retail opens – RioCan also had plans to create 1,500 residential units for rent in the area.

Ed Sonshine, RioCan REIT CEO, told The Globe that Shoppers World is a “broken down, old mall built in the early ’70s that we’ve been trying to figure out what to do with.”

That being said, perhaps the new stores – GoodLife Fitness included – will add some modernity or vibrancy to the mall. Bramptonians do still shop at Shoppers World (I know I do!), after all.

Enjoy the new fitness option, Brampton!
