A meat processing plant in Brampton has been shut down by Peel Public Health due to COVID-19.

Olymel, located at 318 Orenda Rd, was ordered to close today (May 28).

Under current health regulations, any business or workplace must close when five or more people at the workplace test positive for COVID-19 within a period of 14 days.

The closure is meant to stop further spread of the virus while the health department investigates.

The plant will be allowed to reopen when Public Health determines that it is safe to do so.
