Maple Lodge Farms has begun vaccinating workers at plants in Brampton and Mississauga, the first of the pop-up clinics that will open at Peel Region workplaces in upcoming weeks
The country’s largest chicken processor, Maple Lodge Farms started the program on a trial basis today and will ramp up the operation tomorrow at all locations and continue for a two week period.
According to the company, vaccinations will be provided to all interested employees ages 18 and older who are required to work onsite to perform their jobs.
Maple Lodge Farms will fund the program and provide volunteers to assist and have hired a health care provider to deliver the vaccinations.
This is the first of the company pop-up clinics that will operate under the auspices of Peel Public Health.
Tomorrow, Maple Leaf Foods will launch its program for workers in Brampton and Mississauga and Amazon plants in Brampton and Caledon will follow next week.
These initial pop-up clinics will only provide vaccinations to employees at these workplaces but under the agreement with Peel’s health department will eventually provide clinics for the general public.
The workplace programs are expected to deliver 7,000 vaccines in the next three weeks.
