Long-lasting heat warning in effect for Brampton

A heat warning has been issued by Environment Canada, which is forecasting a long heat event from Thursday through Sunday and potentially into early next week.

Daytime high temperatures in the low thirties and overnight lows near 20 degrees Celsius are expected.

“Extreme heat affects everyone,” says Environment Canada. “The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.”

Residents are advised to stay cool and watch for symptoms of heat illness, which include dizziness/fainting, nausea/vomiting, rapid breathing and heartbeat, extreme thirst, and decreased urination with unusually dark urine.
