Interactive online map allows Brampton residents to give feedback about local neighbourhoods

The City of Brampton’s Nurturing Neighbourhoods Program will return virtually Wednesday, July 7.

Nurturing Neighbourhoods aims to improve civic engagement, empower residents to play an active role in enhancing their neighbourhood and connect them with resources.

There will be three ways for residents to learn more about their neighbourhood and share what is important to them:

  • Virtual tours – 15 pre-recorded tours will be posted on the City’s website. Residents are encouraged to take these tours virtually, or use the provided tools to take them in person, while maintaining physical distance.
  • Neighbourhood survey – the City wants to understand the community’s neighbourhoods and how residents interact within them. Residents are encouraged to take the online survey.
  • Online mapping tool – will allow residents to identify places they love, concerns, and changes they would like to see throughout the city.

“Our residents are the experts when it comes to the neighbourhoods that they call home and their input around what they love about their community and what they would like to see changed is invaluable,” said Brampton mayor Patrick Brown.

“I encourage residents of this year’s 15 neighbourhoods to get involved. Your voices matter, and you can help shape our city.”

Last year, the city did virtual tours of 15 neighbourhoods across Brampton to engage Bramptonians and encourage civic community building. More than 400 residents took an active roll in shaping their community through the Nurturing Neighbourhoods Program.

The city received more than 400 survey responses, and more than 400 pins to the online mapping tool.
