Huge Charity Soccer Tournament Coming to Brampton

Do you want to help kick cancer’s butt, play a few exciting games of soccer, and be one of the first people on Brampton’s massive new soccer field? If any of that sounded awesome, there’s an event coming up that’s perfect for you.
There’s still time to sign up for Brampton’s latest charity event, the “Kicking Cancer’s Butt Charity Soccer Tournament” on Saturday, September 23, 2017, from noon until 6:30 p.m. at Heart Lake Secondary School, home of Brampton’s newest soccer facility.
There will be two tournaments – a co-ed one and a men’s one, held by Toronto Footy Sevens.
Each seven-a-side tournament will have two rounds. First, there are the round robin group stages, where all teams will play a minimum of three 30 minute games.
Then come the playoffs, in single elimination knock-out format. The winner gets crowned “Brampton’s first Kicking Cancer’s Butt champion!” What a title!

The minimum donation for teams is $250, but you can also register as an individual for $40.
Where are these funds going, you say?
“All of the money raised will fund essential cancer treatment and research in the city,” said organizers. “Every penny of every team fee or donation goes straight to the William Osler HS Foundation.”
Toronto Footy Sevens has a grand goal to feed funds back into the community.
“We’ve pledged to outfit an entire room in the oncology wing by raising at least $25,000 over the next five years and you can play a big part in that just by playing soccer,” they said.
You’ll probably feel like a soccer star playing on the new turf, because not only is the new facility massive, the $1.7 million outdoor sports field and running track features Revolution 360 turf, the same premium turf chosen for many NFL and MLS team stadiums including the New England Patriots, Seattle Sounders and Atlanta Falcons, by Fieldturf’s.

The field is still setting, but it should open quite soon – last we heard, it was set to open earlier in August.
