The Region of Peel’s Medical Officer of Health issued a heat warning for the Region of Peel, which includes Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon, starting July 2.
According to Environment Canada, a prolonged period of hot weather is expected through the weekend into early next week.
The weather agency says daytime temperatures in excess of 30 degrees are expected, with humidex values in the high thirties to low forties expected until at least Sunday (and likely beyond the weekend). Temperatures will dip into the 20-degree range at night.

The city says that anyone who feels faint, has difficulty breathing or feels confused and disoriented because of the heat should call their doctor. Should you or someone else get seriously ill, call 9-1-1.

Residents are advised to drink a lot of cool water, stay in cooler places (if possible), wear clothing that protects against sun exposure, reschedule any outdoor activities and check in on vulnerable people while practising physical distancing.
Residents are reminded to bring pets inside and never leave animals, children or other people unattended in a locked vehicle.
