Firearm seized in Brampton drug trafficking investigation

Investigators from the Peel Regional Police Specialized Enforcement Bureau have laid firearm and drug trafficking charges in relation to an investigation in Brampton.

Investigators from the Peel Regional Police Specialized Enforcement Bureau have laid firearm and drug trafficking charges in relation to an investigation in Brampton.

Police say over the past month, an investigation began in relation to drug trafficking activity in the area of Dixie Road and Templehill Road.

On Thursday, October 15, 2020, as a result of information collected during the investigation, a man was arrested in the area and a warrant was obtained to search his residence, according to police.

On Thursday, October 15, 2020, officers executed search warrants at the residence which resulted in the recovery of a Norinco 12-gauge shotgun, a loaded shotgun magazine, over $10,000 in counterfeit currency and a substance believed to be cocaine, police say.

Yousif Fargo, a 24-year-old man from Brampton was arrested and charged with numerous offences including possession of a firearm without being the holder of a licence, unsafe storage of a firearm, 2 counts of possession of counterfeit currency, breach of recognizance and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Fargo is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice for a bail hearing.
