Fire crews responding to smoke at hotel in Brampton

Brampton Fire is responding to an incident this afternoon.

Police say they were called shortly before noon for reports of smoke coming from a business in the area of Tomken Rd and Steeles Ave East.

Crews are currently on scene investigating.

More information to come.

UPDATE: Police say the smoke was coming from a hotel room in the area. Brampton Fire determined that the smoke was caused by a man smoking in a non-smoking room.

“A 36-year-old man could now face not only cleaning charges from the hotel, but also fines up to $5000,” police said.
