Fifth Murder Suspect Charged in Brampton Man’s Death

A fifth man has been charged after a Brampton man was beaten to death.

A fifth man has been charged after a Brampton man was beaten to death.

The suspect was arrested on Wednesday June 27, 2018, by Peel police in connection with the death of Paviter Singh Bassi, 21, who died in hospital after a March 19 beatdown.

Officers responded to reports of an assault taking place near Sandalwood Parkway East and Cedarcliff Trail.

Police found the victim suffering from life-threatening injuries.

Bassi was rushed to a Toronto trauma centre where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Harman Singh, a 23-year-old male from Caledon, is facing a first degree murder charge.

Four other suspects are also facing first-degree murder charges: 22-year-old Karanvir Singh Bassi, 23-year-old Guryodh Singh Khattra, 20-year-old Gurraj Bassi, and 24-year-old Harminder Bassi.

“There is no familial relationship between the victim and any of the accused parties,” reads a recent release from Peel police.

Harman Singh will appear in court in Brampton on Thursday June 28, 2018 for a bail hearing.
