Some fun events are on the horizon for the youth of Brampton.

National Youth Week will take place from May 1 to May 7 this year, and the city of Brampton has some fun and free events planned.

On Friday May 3, youth aged 10 – 18 are invited to the Gore Meadows Community Centre, were a pool party is being held. It will run from 7:30 to 8:30pm and will feature pool toys and even a DJ.

If parties aren’t your thing, why not come out to an outdoor movie night. Youth 10 to 18 can bring blankets and chairs to the Century Gardens Park at 8:30pm on Saturday May 4, to watch movies outside in the night sky. Free drinks and popcorn will be provided. Moviegoers are advised to arrive a little early to get good seats.

On Sunday May 5, a Planning Your Future event will be held at the Cassie Campbell Community Centre. Youth aged 14 to 18 looking to better practice interviewing and career skills can attend for a resume workshop, interviewing workshop, guest speaker, recruitment fair and free pizza.

“Here in Brampton, we want to build a healthy and safe city for our youth by providing them with opportunities to learn, grow and play,” says Mayor Patrick Brown. “National Youth Week is a great way to celebrate youth by offering fun, free activities – from an outdoor movie night to career planning to an entertaining pool party – to encourage youth to get involved and have fun.”

The City also hosts weekly Youth Nights for anyone aged 6 to 17. Every Friday from 6pm to 9pm, youth attendees can enjoy activities like sports, dancing, games and more. Admission is only $2 and is held at three Brampton Recreation Centres: Cassie Campbell Community Centre, Century Gardens Recreation Centre and Gore Meadows Community Centre.
