Dog stolen in Whitby found safe in Brampton

A dog that was stolen from its owner along a Whitby street last week has been found safe in Brampton.

Four-year-old Nina, described as a bulldog, was taken by two men on December 30 while she was being walked around 11 p.m. near Ash and Mary Sts. in Whitby.

The dog’s female owner, and another women who witnessed the abduction, tried to fight off the men but were sprayed with an unknown substance.

This week, Brampton Animal Services contacted Durham Regional Police and told them Nina was found wandering outside of a hotel on Nevets Rd. in Brampton.

After getting checked out by a veterinarian, Nina has now been reunited with her owner.

So far police have made one arrested. Ali Habeib, 28, of Pickering is charged with robbery, assault with a weapon and administering a noxious substance.

A second man, described as Black with orange/blonde hair, tall with a heavy build and answers to the name of “Deebo” is also sought by police.
