Coca-Cola Investing Millions into Brampton Facility Following Launch of New Product

Coca-Cola Investing Millions into Brampton Facility Following Launch of New Product

Something small is coming to Coca-Cola, but it’s bringing a big change to one of the company’s bottling facilities here in Brampton.

On March 25, it was announced that the Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Diet Coke, and Sprite products will now be available in mini bottles of 250 mL.

The mini bottle will be available in two packages nationwide: a 250 mL single serving bottle and an eight-pack of 300 mL bottles.

“We know that people want more drink options and the mini bottle is just one way that we’re meeting that desire,” says Darlene Nicosia, President of Coca-Cola Ltd.

The bottles will be 100% recyclable and — because their small size can affect carbonation during the packaging process — they’ll use a special coating called “FreshSafe” that will increase shelf life by up to four months, Coca-Cola says.

To support the production of these new mini bottles, Coca-Cola Bottling Ltd. is investing $20 million to upgrade production line capabilities at the Brampton bottling plant.

The investment will reportedly create three new jobs to start, and will provide the potential to introduce other smaller packages in the future.

“We are so proud that one of our first announcements as an independent bottling company is that we have invested back in our Brampton facility,” says Todd Parsons, President and CEO of Coca-Cola Canada Bottling Ltd.

“Having a local spirit and supporting our communities is very important to us and our aim is to grow our capabilities in Canada, which will in turn, grow jobs.”

The bottling plant is located at 15 Westcreek Boulevard, west of Tomken Road at Highway 407.

This investment follows an earlier announcement to build a new production plant in Peterborough, Ontario, which Coca-Cola says is “a clear demonstration of the company’s commitment to the Canadian market.”
