On Thursday, April 9, the city says it was was made aware that a transit operator from its Sandalwood Facility tested positive for COVID-19.
The oeprator’s last day of work was on Friday, April 3 on the following routes:
- Route 501 Züm Queen
- Route 502 Züm Main
People who travelled on the affected buses on the above day who are feeling well and have no symptoms should continue to go about their daily routines and not call Public Health, the city advises.

Those who do develop symptoms should call Public Health or, if emergency medical assistance is required, call 911.
“Peel Public Health also indicates that there is no additional risk on a public transit bus than there would be in the general community,” the city reports.
The city says its priority is providing support to the transit operator and their family, and continuing to help protect the health and safety of its employees, customers and community through a number of methods, including an enhanced cleaning and sanitizing schedule with sanitization occurring every 24 hours.
“Facilities and terminal lunchrooms, tables, counters and door handles are cleaned and sanitized twice a day,” the city says.
The city is continuing to work closely with Peel Public Health.
