Two men were charged for robbing a cab driver late last night in Brampton.

Peel Regional Police reported that a call came in at 2:20 a.m. on Sunday, July 9, 2017, about a 40-year-old male cab driver having been beaten and robbed in the area of Queen Street and Airport Road.

According to police, the driver picked up two males as farers from a banquet hall in the area.

Police could not release the name of the hall.

The men requested to use the driver’s phone, took it, and refused to give it back.

When both men and the driver got out of the car, the men punched the driver several times and fled on foot.

After the call came in, officers attended the area and located and arrested both males.

The first was Gurjit Sohal, 18, from Brampton. The second was Parwinder Sohal, 21, also from Brampton. Both were charged with one count of robbery and have bail hearings today.

The victim suffered bruising and was assessed at a local hospital.
