If you ever have a hankering for a hearty, deep-fried meal, you are in luck–a brand new fish and chips restaurant has set up shop in Heartlake Town Cenre.
Harbourside Fish and Chips officially opened last Thursday and has enjoyed an enthusiastic reception (possibly because it serves up everything from traditional fish & chips and breaded shrimp to poutines and a host of decadent deep-fried desserts).
“It’s been surprisingly busy, considering we haven’t advertised,” says Dean McCormick, co-owner of the brand new comfort food hotspot.
As far as the menu goes, the resto offers a daily lunch special from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. that consists of haddock and chips for $7.95 plus tax. Older diners can also enjoy special treatment every Monday, as that’s Senior’s Day.

“Another popular item has been the codwich sandwich and chips, which consists of cod served on a bun with coleslaw for $12.95,” McCormick says.
In terms of fish options, diners can enjoy Alaskan halibut, haddock, cod and salmon. The resto also offers a plethora of deep-fried shrimp options (including coconut shrimp), along with battered mushrooms, fried clams, crab cakes and scallops. If you want to keep things light, you can order your fish baked or grilled.
As far as side dishes go, you can stick with fries or substitute mashed potatoes, rice, mushy peas, soups, salads and more. You can also pair your fish some homemade onion rings. If you’re not in the mood for the traditional offerings, you can order grilled chicken, chicken fingers, meat pies, sandwiches, fish tacos and more.
“We have huge selection of appetizers, including coconut shrimp, torpedo shrimp and battered mushrooms. We have a large selection of dessert items, including deep fried brownies, deep fried Mars Bars and sticky toffee pudding that is particularly tasty.”
When it comes to dessert, Harbourside is definitely bringing its A-Game. Along with deep-fried brownies and Mars Bars, the resto also offers milkshakes, funnel cakes, pies, rice pudding and snowballs.
“It’s fish and chips, so when you come in, you’re expecting a deep fried product, so we’re using that for our desserts too,” he says. “We want to give you an option for dessert that you can’t find anywhere else.”
As what made the owners choose Brampton as the site of their resto, McCormick said the choice was simple.
“Our server Helen, who is also my wife, has been in the industry for years, so we know the product and we know Brampton is fond of fish and chips. I was in food industry for over 10 years, so we [decided we] wanted to do this for ourselves.”
The resto is open seven days a week and is open from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday and Monday and open from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m Tuesday through Saturday.
