Brampton’s John Metchie III helped Alabama win the US college football championship last night, defeating Ohio State 52-24.

Metchie caught eight passes for 81 yards in the victory in a game that was never really close as the powerhouse Crimson Tide rolled to its fifth NCAA title in the past 10 years.

With the victory, Metchie became the first Canadian to be on a national football championship winning club in 17 years, and is likely the first Bramptonian to capture an NCAA crown in a major sport.

After the game he spoke to reporters which can be viewed here.
