Brampton’s half marathon postponed due to COVID-19

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak and the recent developments surrounding the virus, the Brampton Half Marathon, which was scheduled for June 13-14, 2020, has now been postponed until 2021.

The decision was made along with the guidance of Peel Public Health, the Province of Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer and the World Health Organization.

The rescheduled date will be June 12-13, 2021.

“This is disappointing news for the participants who have been training for this race,” says Mayor Patrick Brown.

“However, your health is important during this pandemic. I hope you will join us next year for the inaugural Brampton Half Marathon.”

Although 2020 was the year that had been chosen as the inaugural year for the event, organized by Landmark Sport Group, postponing this marathon is in the best interests of everyone in the community in an effort to limit and reduce the spread of the virus.

Participants who have registered for the 2020 event will have their entries deferred until next year’s run.

“We know it’s the right decision,” says Elliott Kerr, Race Chairman and President of Landmark Sport Group.

“We all have a role to play in our collective effort to beat the COVID-19 virus. Our way of life will return and I welcome everyone to join us in 2021. In the meantime, be smart, protect yourself and your family and we will prevail.”
