Brampton’s Getting a New Splash Pad

It’s officially spring, and that means summer is around the corner in Brampton.

It’s officially spring, and that means summer is around the corner in Brampton. Brampton’s getting warmer (though we might not feel it yet) and soon enough, everyone’s going to be thinking of ways to cool off.

So it’s always exciting when a new splash pad opens in our city!

A splash pad is basically an interactive area where water sprays from different directions. In the coming months, a new splash pad is slated to open at the new Springdale Library as part of Komagata Maru Park.

The new element at Springdale Library is part of the library’s award-winning, LEED gold-designated architecture.

How will this splash pad be environmentally friendly?

Well, there will be a cistern in palce to capture the splash pad water to irrigate flower beds, and parkland and bioswales (a slope drainage system) for storm water management.

Brampton will officially have 12 splash pads by this summer with the new one coming to Springdale Library.

Springdale Library opened in February 2018, and it’s located at 10705 Bramalea Road. Komagata Maru Park – where you’ll find the splash pad – is at the northeast corner of Bramalea Road and Blackcherry Lane.

An official opening date for the new splash pad has not yet been announced.
