A Brampton Transit operator has tested positive for COVID-19.

A Brampton Transit operator has tested positive for COVID-19.

The operator, who worked out of the Sandalwood Facility, worked on the 502 Züm Main route today (June 24), as well as the 502 Züm Main route, the 511 Züm Steeles route, and the 4 Chinguacousy route yesterday (June 23).

As soon as the City was informed, staff immediately contacted Peel Public Health.

The operator will remain in self-isolation for the next 14 days–the City is providing support to this individual and their family, as well as continuing to help protect the health and safety of City employees, customers, and the general public.

Those who took any of these buses on these dates are advised to continue with their daily routines providing they are not exhibiting any symptoms.

Anyone who is exhibiting symptoms is instructed to contact Public Health.

Peel Public Health has emphasized public transit doesn’t pose any additional risk than there otherwise would be in the general community.

In the coming weeks, Brampton Transit will provide on-site testing at its facilities and will continue encouraging proactive testing for all employees.
