This year, amid the COVID-19 crisis, the City of Brampton will be hosting a virtual celebration for Pride.

The City has created an online hub with events throughout Pride Week in the Region of Peel, from July 5 to 11, during Pride Month in Brampton, to celebrate the City’s LGBTTIQQ2SA community.

On July 5, residents are invited to celebrate Brampton’s third annual Pride in the Square – Virtual Edition, sponsored by TD Bank.

Although residents cannot gather in person in Garden Square, Pride in the Square will continue in a different way on Garden Square Brampton’s Facebook and Instagram platforms.

Enjoy an exciting lineup of online entertainment all day.

On July 8, residents are invited to tune in to Instagram Live @culturebrampton at 7:00 pm for an inspirational talk from comedian and writer Brandon Ash-Mohammed.

Ash-Mohammed is recognized as a Just For Laughs Montreal Homegrown Talent, Tim Sims Award-nominated comedian, a Telefilm New Voices Award-winning writer and the creator of The Ethnic Rainbow (Canada’s first & only comedy show for LGBT comedians of colour).

On July 9, residents are invited to check out This is Brampton: Live Online, presented by The Rose Brampton. It will feature powerful performances for Pride. Tune into The Rose’s Facebook Live at facebook.com/therosebrampton at 7:30 pm.

This is Brampton: Live Online, sponsored by Algoma University, is The Rose Brampton’s weekly online concert series which showcases some of Brampton’s best talent to the world.

The series supports local artists by providing them with a platform and professional artist fees. Since it started in April, the series has captured over 20,000 views and welcomed audiences from every continent.

“Brampton is a Mosaic, and we are not letting COVID-19 get in the way of recognizing the vibrant LGBTTIQQ2SA communities in our city. At www.brampton.ca/pride, we’ll be celebrating online through art, performance, and programming for all ages,” said Mayor Patrick Brown.

“My family and I will be enjoying these events all week! Love is love is love.”

Stay connected with everyone celebrating by sharing your stories, photos and videos on social media throughout the week using #ShowYourPrideBrampton.
