A Brampton teen has committed to walking thousands of steps in honour of Remembrance Day.
From November 10-11, 2020, 15-year-old Mackenzie Nolan will be walking 100,000 steps, 75 km and over 24 hours to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the first Remembrance Day ceremony held in the city and 75 years since the end of World War II.
For the past few years, Nolan has participated with her Sea Cadet Corps in the 24-hour vigil at the Chinguacousy Park memorial as well as assisting local Royal Canadian Legions during the Poppy Campaign.
While Cadets are not able to participate in these activities this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Nolan still wanted to find a way to support Veterans, which is how she came up with the idea to walk.
Additionally, Nolan has set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for the Royal Canadian Legion.
