The Brampton brother and sister team of Kelly Ryan-Parise and Jason Ryan have never let money get in the way of their relationship. That system has worked out well as the siblings have won $50,000 in the Ontario49 lottery.

The pair claimed the second place prize from the March 13 draw as well as an extra $3 they claimed on another ticket. The grand total to $50,003!

The pair enjoys playing the lottery together and take a democratic approach with each picking a number and choosing the rest randomly.

Ryan-Parise says she checked her ticket before going to bed and thought they won just $15.

“I noticed my number was one of the winning numbers, and Jason’s pick was the bonus number,” she said. “I checked the next morning using the OLG Lottery App and was pleasantly surprised when I saw $50,000 appear on the screen!”

Ryan-Parise says she was so excited when she discovered their big win that she raced to her brother’s house down the street to tell him the big news. “Unfortunately, he was at work, so I had to Facetime him to share the good news. He was in disbelief!”

She said other family members and friends didn’t believe them at first: “They all thought we were joking.”

Ryan-Parise plans to spend her winnings on car repairs and home improvements.

ONTARIO 49 is $1 per play and the draws take place every Wednesday and Saturday.

The winning ticket was purchased at a Petro Canada station on Hurontario St, in Brampton.
