Brampton Set to Raise Flag for Remembrance Day

If you want to grab a poppy as soon as you can to honour war vets and Remembrance Day, the poppy campaign will launch this week, and in advance of Remembrance Day, Brampton will be raising a flag.
Every year, the Royal Canadian Legion launches its poppy campaign in honour of war veterans and the end of the first world war. Though Remembrance Day is not until November 11, the Legion will be kicking off poppy sales across Brampton with a flag raising this Friday, October 27, at 10 a.m. in Ken Whillans Square.
The campaign is set to run until Remembrance Day on November 11.

“Funds raised will directly support Canada’s serving and retired Veterans and their families, while helping to ensure Canadians never forget the tremendous efforts of those who serve,” said the City of Brampton in a statement.
City Council members and some representatives from Royal Canadian Legion Branches 15 and 609 will be at the event this Friday.
There are a few more Remembrance Day events in Brampton you’ll want to keep on your radar after the flag raising.
A parade and service of remembrance will take place on Sunday November 5, 2017, starting at 10:55 a.m. at the Veteran Memorial at Chinguacousy Park.
There will also be a candle light service on Sunday November 5, 2017 at the Veteran Statue at Gage Park, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
About a week later there will be a sunrise service on Saturday November 11, 2017, starting at 7:55 a.m. at the Meadowvale Cemetery Chapel located at 7732 Mavis Road.
Finally, there will be another parade and service of remembrance on Saturday November 11, 2017, starting at 10:55 a.m. at the Memorial Cenotaph in Ken Whillans Square.
So, if you’re looking for a Remembrance Day service to attend, there are quite a few things happening in Brampton in the coming weeks.
