Brampton Set to Host Remembrance Day Services This Weekend

Poppies are popping up on jackets all over the city, and now, the city is set to host its annual Remembrance Day services to honour war veterans.
Remembrance Day might not be until next week, but services are kicking off this weekend on Sunday, November 5, 2017.
A parade and service of remembrance will take place on Sunday November 5, 2017, starting at 10:55 a.m. at the Veteran Memorial at Chinguacousy Park.
To accommodate, there will be road closures from 11:30 a.m.-noon:

- Queen Street East from Central Park Drive to Laurelcrest Street/West Drive (westbound lanes only)
There will also be a candle light service on Sunday November 5, 2017 at the Veteran Statue at Gage Park, beginning at 7:30 p.m. The Veteran Statue at Gage Park is actually modeled on a real, local war veteran of WWII.
The statue is modeled on the decorated Bill Bettridge, and it’s a tribute to “Bramptonians who have served and continue to serve our nation around the world so that we may live in freedom,” according to the City.
As for the parade and services, if you’re planning to go, you’ll want to arrive a little earlier each day in case you want to get settled or grab a poppy.
The poppy launch and flag raising happened in Ken Whillians Square last week.
