Soon, Brampton residents will be able to take the Züm directly to the airport.

Soon, Brampton residents will be able to take the Züm directly to the airport.

According to a news release from the City, the 505 Züm Bovaird route will be expanded so it will be making stops at Toronto Pearson International Airport.

The expansion of the 505 route is projected to take effect in the Fall of 2020, and was approved as part of Brampton’s 2020 budget.

These changes to the 505 will make getting to and from work easier for the 10,000 Brampton residents who work at Pearson.

Additionally, the route change could improve employment rates in Brampton, as it would allow more people who take public transit to work at Pearson–currently, due to a lack of direct routes available, only 13 per cent of Brampton residents who work at Pearson take public transit.

According to the City, the change will cost roughly $1.75 million–$900,000 of which will be funded by the City, while the remainder will come from revenue.

“As part of the Innovation Corridor and the top contributor to the airport’s workforce, we are pleased to support our region’s economic growth and ease Brampton residents’ access to job opportunities,” Mayor Patrick Brown said in the release.

“The 2020 Budget makes important investments that are putting the community first,” he continued.
