Flags are set to rise across Ontario very soon – and Brampton will raise one, too!
On Tuesday April 3, 2018, at noon in Ken Whillans Square (in front of City Hall), Brampton will raise a flag in support of World Autism Awareness Day.
The official awareness day is on Monday April 2, but since it’s Easter Monday, celebrations will happen on Tuesday.
Nearly 50 communities across the province will also be raising flags, including Burlington, Niagara Falls, Peterborough, Toronto, Barrie, and Ottawa.

Brampton has flown a number of flags in the past – in fact, the City of Brampton does allow flags to be flown in addition to the Canadian Flag, the Province of Ontario Flag, the United Nations Flag and/or the City of Brampton Flag at locations like City Hall and the Civic Centre.
As long as the flag will enrich the lives of Brampton residents, almost any group can request their flag be raised on the community flagpole, which is located at Ken Whillans Square in front of City Hall in downtown Brampton.
“Autism Ontario’s Raise the Flag campaign, through the simple act of raising a flag, unites families, schools, communities, government and professionals in recognizing World Autism Awareness Day, and brings to light to struggles and triumphs of people on the autism spectrum,” says Autism Ontario.
Brampton’s event is hosted by Autism Ontario’s Peel chapter. The event runs from 12-12:30 p.m.
