Brampton man charged following hit and run crash that sent two people to hospital

A Brampton man is facing charges following an alleged hit and run collision that sent a man and a woman to a trauma centre.

Peel Regional Police say investigators from the Major Collision Bureau have arrested and charged a 23-year-old man following a collision that occurred around 11:15 pm on May 17, 2021, in Brampton.

Police say a black Lexus was travelling southbound on Main Street when it collided with a cement wall in the Main Street and John Street area. Police allege that further investigation revealed a second vehicle was involved in the collision but the driver failed to remain at the scene.

A 25-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were transported to a trauma centre as a result of the crash.

Police say Drumayne Lake has been charged with two counts of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing bodily harm and failing to stop after an accident resulting in bodily harm.

The accused will appear in court on August 4, 2021.

Investigators are asking anyone with video surveillance or dashcam footage of the incident to contact the Major Collision Bureau at 905-453-2121, extension 3710.
